Family History Backup Privacy Policy

Family History Backup is a private application used by Frank Merrow to maintain backup copies of a family historical archive.

Google Drive access

The application uses Google OAuth authorization and the Google Drive API to access files and folders in the Google account authorized by the owner. This access is used solely to read, copy, create, update, move, and delete files as necessary to maintain backup copies of the family history archive.

Use of information

Information obtained through Google Drive is used only for operating the backup. Google user data is not used for advertising, marketing, profiling, or any unrelated purpose.

Storage

Backup files are stored only in storage locations selected and controlled by the archive owner or in Google Drive locations that have been explicitly shared with the owner for this purpose. OAuth credentials and authorization tokens used by the backup software are stored privately and are not made publicly available.

Sharing

Google user data obtained by this application is not sold or provided to third parties. Files may be copied to Google Drive folders explicitly selected by the owner as backup destinations.

Data retention and deletion

Files are retained according to the archive owner’s backup and preservation practices. The owner may delete backup files or revoke the application’s Google account access at any time.
